PERSONAL DETAILS

DESCRIPTION:
Joseph DePayns shares many qualities with the iconic business man, a stern suit and a sterner face. Standing just shy of six foot he is an imposing figure, his muscular frame and sculpted physique is riddled with scars and various symbols, always covered in a suit and gloves. You will rarely see him dressed in anything other than an Alexander Amosu or Ermingildo Zegn designed suit. Josephs skin is a tanned Caucasian white; not bronzed but definitely sun kissed. When he is wearing his suit and gloves, when ever he is with people, you can not see any of the symbols carved into his flesh, not many of his scares.His face looks like he rarely if ever smiles, and holds an expression that would make the pope confess his sins. With his voice he joins the rank of such symbols as Johnny Cash and Ron Perlman as the sound rumbles from his chest coming from the granite that is his soul. It's that classic deep gravel you come to expect from men who have seen much and done much, and have the size and scars to prove it.

PERSONALITY:
If you were to ever catch Joseph unaware, as when he didn't know you were there, he may seem distant and lost, his eyes going back to family and friends long since dead and gone. At the core of his soul Joseph wishes he was an optimist, but years of viewing horrors never meant to be viewed by sane eyes has left him no longer caring about the glass. Joseph is scared of personal relations and tries to keep people distant from him. He is not always successful in these endeavors, all humans want companionship and Joseph is no exception.
In the heat of combat Joseph is distant, his mind going trough every variable to drag as many men as possible out of the situation. If he is alone in his fight than he is much more reckless, fighting with much more abandon. Many of the wounds and scars from his body have been from close call kills where the risk was greatly sided with his death.
In the business world Joseph is ruthless, his banking enterprises always covered with many contingency's and payoffs so no venture can end in a total lost. He views the world of finances like a feudal battlefield with lords and vassals, always make sure the vassals are happy and that the enemy is either now one with your fief or can never raise a fief again.
When his life encounters a change Josephs first thought is benefit or gain. How can this be used for the benefit of the Ignis or the benefit of my enterprise? Change it's self is not bad or evil, but change for the sake of change leads to loss and frustration there must be an upside to every coin flip. Joseph welcomes change for the new hurdle to overcome, the new venture to explore, the new jewel to gain.

HISTORY:
Joseph DePayns family can trace it's ancestry through time back to Hugues de Payens in 1136. This is a mark of pride for the House of DePayns, their money is old, and so is thier honor. Joseph was raised amongst old money, many on the outside would comment that in fact Joseph was born with a silver spoon, he would comment that if that was true his father didn't let him keep it. Josephs father, Micheal DePayns, believed that nothing on this earth should be given for free, because of this idealism Joseph was raised as many young boys: cleaning his room, doing the dishes, mowing the lawn, and various other chores. The many physical chores of Josephs youth placed a work ethic and a love of a job well done into his heart at an early age.
Raised a Catholic by his family Joseph's first school was a monastic education, this faith in a power greater than himself has prevailed all along his life.
Joseph was then sent to the Gymnasium Landesschule Sankt Afra Meissen one of the most prestigious schools in Germany, it was here that Joseph fell in love with the myths and language of the early Germanic peoples. On one of the trips home for Holiday Joseph was introduced to The Lucidus Ignis (the Torch), the secret order militant his father Micheal commanded, it was then that Joseph saw his first Adumbulo Nox, or night walker (the beings that the Torch place as other than human). Josephs life was then split in between school work and training to fight the enemies of mankind.
When Joseph reached the age of nineteen his father, Micheal, was consumed by the Wyrm Namhaid upon a Lucidus Ignis raid of the Wyrms nest. Upon hearing word of his fathers death Joseph requested a year off at Yale to grieve, it was granted and he then spent his reprieve hunting down the Wyrm and putting it to rest for good. He then returned to graduate as Valedictorian of his graduating class.
Leaving the realm of academia Joseph tackled both the banking world and the Lucidus Ignis with a fevor. Setting up a lucrative and solid foundation of money with his fathers banking company he focuses manly on The Torch and making sure that they are prepared against the many forces feeding off of humanity.
Among the Lucidus Ignis Joseph was hailed as a master tactician. His dutiful studying of known weaknesses and the exploitation of those weaknesses helped take down many of the Torches enemies. His demeanor towards their enemies and the execution of his battle plans has earned him the perception of a cold and distant soul. While death does take a toll on Joseph his faith in the Trinity and upon the work the Ignis does keeps him firm upon the fragile ground of war.
Joseph was raised to Grand-Master of the Lucidus Ignis at the age of 36. After many battles with the Adumbulo Nox Joseph is a tired old man, but his experience and solid mind are an indispensable force for the power of the Torch. He now owns a home in New York, New York where he does the great amount of his business, and his original home in Newport, Rhode Island where both his Mother and the empty casket of his father is buried.

WEAKNESSES:
A wobbly Public Relations with him and the rest of the world.
Just because he is a fit old man doesn't remove the old man part, or the fact that he has been thrown around by beings much more durable than the human body.
Talking about himself... he doesn't like doing it at all, so his PR department is working on that, he doesn't want to go on the interviews though.

RELIC DETAILS

Name: Tonbojiri
Level: 1
Appearance: When Joseph is not holding Tonbojiri it looks like a simple Jumonji Yari with a black shaft. It's a long six foot spear with the shaft being five feet, and the blade being one, underneath the stabbing blade there is another blade curving out from the base at both ends, creating the image of a cross. Where the blade and Shaft meet there is a feathered tassel, its color reminiscent of an insects wing, about a foot long. The color of the shaft when Joseph has the weapon on his person, or is within a foot of it, looks like oil spilled upon water. It's color is ultimately black, but has swirling colors along the grain of the stained wood.
Personality: When Joseph holds Tonbojiri there is the slight sound of buzzing wings in the air not overpowering but barely audible to the human ear. He also seems to have more bounce in his step, and his face seems to have less of the Cold-banker-stoic and more of the Fear-inducing-killer look about him, enough to unnerve any one around him. His mood seems happy, but not for the right reasons, like laughing because someone just got ran over by a buss reason.
Power: The Tonbojiri has the ability to cut through steel and bone as if passing through the smoke of candles.
Weakness/drawback/catch: The longer Joseph is in a battle with Tonbojiri the less he seems like a tactician, and the more reckless he gets. The longer the fight lasts the more it seems that Joseph is not the one fighting, and some daemon has gripped him that cares not for his safety or the safety of others. It also seems to have an addictive pull on Joseph, as you can almost always see the Spear within easy reach: either upon a weapons rack, and umbrella stand, or the back seat of his vehicles.

-Description: You're about 20 words short. ^^ Otherwise, looks great. xD The last line, while a little odd, is an amusing touch. So I suggest perhaps going into detail on his voice, some of his mannerisms, like how he walks, how he sits or stands, or somesuch.

-History: Again, lovely history. xD He reminds me of Buffy, kinda, in the whole half student, half slayer of the nonhuman. xD Just a little thing, though; the part where it says his dad was eaten by a dragon seems kinda random, and strange. Mind elaborating more on how that event transpired? That is, what did his dad do to get eaten by it? Dragons are rather civil creatures, you know.

-Languages: Translators for EVERYTHING else? xD May need to be a BIT more specific. ^^; Kinda have doubts he could translate some of the more archaic languages, like Classical Armenian or Gothic, which, while UNLIKELY TO BE SPOKEN NEAR HIM, are used by at least one character, namelyLetabecauseyes, and they would be kinda tricky to translate. ^^ I'd say he'd have translators for most common modern languages, though, yes?

Relic Personality: Not much to add here, just note what sort of emotion emanates from the relic, at level 1. Like, does he feel happier when using it, angrier, etc...

Relic Weaknesses: Again, I just like this. xD Seems really unique, so props. 8D
